Merck’s Animal Health (MAH) Division works to improve the health of animals around the world through collaborative partnerships and a deep sense of responsibility towards our customers, consumers, animals, society, and planet. Provide basic animalhusbandry and oversee monitoring of health and welfare for cattle, swine,horses, and dogs (i.e. provide feed and water, maintain sanitization, monitortemperature, and provide socialization). Job may require some farm equipment operation (e.g. tractors, skid loaders,power washer, and forklift).  Trainingwill occur before operation of equipment.

Have ability toperform physical work (e.g. lifting 50lbs). Learn to support Research & Development personnel by performingtechnical procedures on animals (e.g. blood sampling, necropsy/tissuecollection, and assist with administering animal medication and/orvaccine).  Have ability to maintainprecise records on animals involved in active study work.


We are seeking interns with strong academic performance, communications skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a multi-functional environment.  This is a paid internship targeted to start in June 2018 for 10-12 weeks. This position does not provide housing or relocation assistance. 



Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelors degree in Animal Science.
  • Should be able to work full time for 9-12 weeks in summer of 2018 and return back to school in Fall of 2018 on completion of the assignment.
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Previous experience with agriculture is mandatory
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience in a research setting with the use ofanimal models
  • Veterinary technician experience or certification
