About (Principal) Research Associate, Molecular Biology- Waltham, MA

Our Alloy Discovery Services group is looking for a (Principal) Research Associate, Molecular Biology to join our team in Waltham, Massachusetts. The position will report directly to our Head of Molecular Biology and work with our Antibody Discovery Services team to support the discovery of antibody-based therapeutics and help strengthen and develop our internal platform technologies at Alloy. You will be using and helping to develop the latest in cellular and molecular biology techniques, protocols, and automation for the ultimate goal of making better medicines together with our collaborators.

Principal Responsibilities

• Perform recombinant DNA activities, ranging from cloning (Gibson Assembly, PCR, Vector Digestion) and DNA plasmid purification (small & large-scale) to supporting antigen, antibody and multi-specific molecule construction and production

• Utilize high-throughput workflow methodology and automation to accomplish recombinant DNA production and assembly

• Analyze and interpret DNA sequencing results and maintain analysis output and results tracking

• Support Antibody Discovery Services projects, by performing B cell cloning & and hybridoma workflow and sequence recovery

• Help coordinate small- and large-scale DNA hand-off between function groups

• Catalog and maintain internal reagents and Molecular Biology output

• Maintain organized electronic Lab Notebook & utilize electronic LIMs system for DNA and Protein sample tracking

• Be generous when others are needy, greedy or fearful

Required Qualifications and Skills

• MS with 1+ year or BS/BA with 3+ years of research experience working with recombinant DNA in support of discovery of biologics

• BA/BS/MS in an appropriate scientific discipline (immunology, cellular or molecular biology)

• Experience with protein expression vectors design and cloning methodologies

• Familiarity with antibody expression vectors including monoclonal and bispecific constructs

• Demonstrated experience with high-throughput production and characterization methods and equipment

• Experience using DNA sequence analysis software is a plus

• Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic team setting

• Attention to detail, rigorous scientific thinking and appropriate documentation, clear

communication skills

• A sense of urgency, speed, persistence, and organization in a dynamic, fun, and exciting work environment
