Description
Basic Qualification
• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related discipline with demonstrated expertise in retrosynthetic analysis, reaction mechanisms and structure identification.
Details
• Interest in providing creative contributions to solving problems at the interface of chemistry and biology e.g. disrupting or promoting protein-protein interactions
• Initiates new research directions and novel strategies to achieve project or department goals.
• Makes effective decisions to achieve desired outcomes of project teams.
• Conceives and plans efficient synthetic routes to molecules of interest.
• Designs laboratory experiments, conducts synthetic reactions toward target molecules, and develops synthetic methods as needed.
• Analyzes biological data and establishes SAR hypotheses that impact target molecule design and selection.
• Maintains detailed laboratory notebooks, cross-referenced data files, and records of ideas and inventions
• Contributes to the drafting of patent applications and scientific publications
• Establishes priorities and coordinates work schedules in agreement with program priorities.
• Establishes and maintains a detailed knowledge of the literature related to areas of research.
• May serve as an expert in a specific technical skill or area of expertise and act as an R&D representative on cross-functional teams.
• Performs functional supervisory duties as assigned
Requirements
Preferred Qualification
• 0 to 3 years of professional and/or industrial experience
• Demonstrated ability to apply cutting edge scientific principles and techniques to achieve project goals
• Demonstrated ability to be creative and solve problems. Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to excel in a team environment and communicate effectively to all organizational levels
