| Description |
Basic Qualification • PhD in cell/ Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and/or pharmacology with significant post doctoral experience in pharmaceutical/Biotech industry. Details The Virtual Proof of Concept DPU aims to advance high quality drug discovery programs (e.g. small molecule, therapeutic proteins/antibodies) in a virtual setting with external partners and CROs. The major responsibility for this job is to ensure that a robust portfolio of opportunities that are likely to deliver high value to the business are identified and progressed efficiently and effectively through Proof of Concept in humans.
This person will be accountable for identification, selection and execution of discovery programs as well as for identification of suitable and appropriate external partners. The responsibility will also include the development of standards and consistent approaches for the management of external relationships, resource optimization and allocation across VPoC programs. Repositioning of existing assets will also be an important component of this job. This person will have no direct reports but will work closely with rest of the VPoC and VPoC BioPharm groups to provide leadership in a matrix environment that spans Drug Discovery, PTS and other parts of R&D. |

| Requirements |
Preferred Qualification • A broad biology background in multiple therapeutic/disease areas. • Significant program leadership and management experience particularly in large molecules (therapeutic proteins/antibodies etc.) drug discovery, lead generation, candidate selection and beyond up to clinical proof of concept. • Previous experience in working collaboratively with external CROs, PTS and DPU organizations and academia and a proven track record of success in delivery of results and objectives. • Ability to establish, drive and manage strategy across functions. • Expertise in Discovery Biology and excellent leadership credentials is essential as is a record of value creation in discovery, early development and leading/managing research programs in a complex matrix organization. • Ability to identify and critically evaluate (small and/or large molecules) drug discovery opportunities, provide strategic direction to drug discovery projects, as well as to initiate and drive projects to completion. • Credibility and track record needed to build and manage internal and/or external business partner relationships at all levels to drive the projects. • Excellent scientific and communication skills including strong influencing and negotiating skills and resourcefulness. • Ability to learn new areas, be flexible and willing to do what is essential for the benefit of the programs regardless of expertise.
