Basic Qualification • MPH, PharmD, PhD or MD equivalent education/experience in related HO discipline • Business knowledge • Customer focus • Decision making • Leadership • Project Management • Extensive industry experience, preferably US operating company • US healthcare market, policy and decision-maker understanding • Tactical application of HO research and information at the therapy/product level • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with external HO KOL • Demonstrated strong matrix, interpersonal and influence skills • Financial management Details Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities: • Lead the development, management, and implementation of US health outcomes strategies and tactics in areas across the GSK vaccine portfolio to support the US commercial objectives of GSK's products during development, launch, and life cycle management. • To work in partnership with matrix bodies within product development such as US Commercial, Clinical and Medical Affairs, SAVAS, Customer Value Generation, and GSKBiologics to ensure provision of health outcomes information to support internal decision making during product development, commercialization and life cycle management. • Represent vaccine specific reimbursement, formulary access and policy needs/issues for US Pharma in development. • Represents GHO on significant GSK initiatives impacting US Pharma and the GSK Vaccines Business Unit. • Represents GSK Health Outcomes on US regional external professional, scientific and industry committees and forums Accountability: • Lead USHO vaccines team of up to 10 staff to maximize the commercial value of products • Ensure US team HO strategies are in place, continually aligned at all levels (product and therapy area commercial strategies and divisional organizational strategies) and implemented effectively • Agreeing overall balance therapy area priorities with US Pharma VPs, GMs, Directors • Represent US Vaccines Team(s) at Commercial Strategy Team and other US Pharma / VBU matrix teams • Participate in US regional and appropriate global matrix teams to ensure that all relevant US reimbursement and market access needs, planning factors and impacts are assessed in development, pre-launch, launch and life cycle management strategies. • Lead implementation of US regional HO strategies during life cycle management to secure and maintain reimbursement, market access/formulary listing, promotion and optimal pricing. • Apply expert negotiation skills internally and externally to ensure the value of HO is used to maximum advantage for GSK products • Support key US market reimbursement submissions/interactions with major formulary/decision-making bodies • Recruit, retain, develop, deploy and release US staff resources to maximize resource flexibility for US Market Support function. • Design, plan, track and adjust US regional HO projects across team and with external contractors and suppliers to ensure delivery on time, to budget and in accordance with user specifications. • Assure quality of deliverables, including participation on quality review panels, review and sign off of project specifications, protocols, data analysis plans, final study reports, abstracts, posters and manuscripts, adherence to US and R&D SOPs. • Coordinate effective collaborations with GSKBiologics HE and Value Strategy teams while leading US Market Support functions • Develop and maintain intimate understanding of internal and external US customers' needs for health outcomes deliverables to support market development, pricing, reimbursement, formulary listing and promotion of GSK products. • Engage in US regional external partnerships to establish GSK HO as the international leader in its field. • Enhance the functioning of the US Leadership team and the department as a whole through initiation and implementation of relevant and effective change programs • Contribute to broader organizational change within GSK through participation in specific projects and work at a departmental level and beyond. • Manage the US regional USHO vaccine team(s) budgets (IPE/EPE) Complexity: • degree of change & uncertainty; level of influencing required; degree of matrix working • Lead and provide line management for the US Vaccine Team(s) (<10 staff) • Provide vaccine-specific health outcomes and reimbursement strategic leadership/direction for US Senior Management and R&D • Develop overall balance of therapy area priorities and strategic direction for US Pharma and VBU • Accountable for delivering effective therapy area HO support to complex US Pharma business (such as marketing, sales, medical services, area account, sales, managed markets) • Build effective working relationship with US Pharma SVP/VP to ensure effective representation of the reimbursement/market access needs of US • Management of matrix relationships on global/regional/cross departmental level to influence delivery of health outcomes messages, reimbursement and market access needs for US • Ensure HO projects are conducted to accepted US and R&D standards, policy and practices within department • Proactively identify innovative, creative avenues to develop, package, leverage, and communicate HO value messages in the US • Matrix working to leverage and disseminate vaccines HO value messages for the US market • Represent GHO/GSK interests externally and engage in external partnership such as academic institutions • Senior level matrix working to secure appropriate budget/resources for USHO Vaccines team • Effective coordination and management of vaccine resources for US Market Support function (IPE/EPE) • Ensure effective collaborations with GSKBiologics HE and Value Strategy teams • Develop and maintain intimate understanding of external US customers’ needs for health outcomes deliverables to support market development, pricing, reimbursement, formulary listing and promotion of GSK products • Influence internal and external government and policy groups on vaccine related health outcomes, reimbursement, health policy issues |
