| Description |
Basic Qualification The candidate will have a Bachelors or higher degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related science. Candidates should possess at least three years industry experience; with at least one year in pre-clinical oncology models. The candidate will possess proven laboratory skills with demonstrated flexibility and mastery of a variety of laboratory techniques, including comprehensive knowledge of molecular and cell biology methods. Details The candidate will work as a key member of drug discovery program teams in the Cancer Stem Cell DPU, where the primary responsibilities will include the evaluation and characterization of potential cancer targets and novel anti-cancer agents in biochemical and cellular assays. Laboratory responsibilities will include development of cell-based assays to evaluate compound activities on cellular processes including signal transduction, proliferation, mitosis, cell death, etc. The candidate will work closely with Medicinal Chemistry to develop compounds that meet drug candidate criteria, run cell-based assays in support of drug discovery, and employ novel assays in support of cellular compound screening and cellular mechanistic assays. |

| Requirements |
Preferred Qualification The successful candidate will have cell biology experience, especially in the study of oncology, with an emphasis on assay development. The candidate will be familiar with cellular assays, including cell culture techniques, FACS analysis, immunofluorescent labeling, and gene reporter assays. The candidate will have experience in molecular techniques, including expression analysis, protein isolation and detection (e.g. ELISA and Western analysis) and RNA interference methods. The candidate will be familiar with the use of automation in cellular and molecular assays. The candidate will be an organized and efficient record keeper, function well in a team environment, and possess good written and verbal communication skills. |
