Basic Qualification • BS/MS degree in Cell biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with 2 years post-MS or 4 years post-BS laboratory experience. • Proven laboratory skills with demonstrated flexibility and mastery of a variety of laboratory techniques, including comprehensive knowledge of molecular and cell biology methods. • Demonstrated ability to function well in a team environment, with good communication and record-keeping skills. Details The Cancer Stem Cell DPU within Oncology R&D is focused on the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapies against novel molecular targets that maintain cancer stem cells. We currently have a challenging and high-impact opportunity for a highly motivated and talented individual to join us as a key member of our drug discovery team. The primary responsibilities of this role will include the evaluation and characterization of potential cancer stem cell targets and novel anti-cancer stem cell agents in cellular and biochemical assays. The candidate will work closely with Medicinal Chemistry to run assays in support of hit identification and lead optimization, and will investigate novel technologies to facilitate the discovery of novel cancer stem cell-directed targets and therapies. The candidate must have excellent quantitative analytical skills and have a demonstrated knowledge of assay development and cellular and molecular pharmacology. A familiarity with common scientific software programs, such as Kaleidagraph, Grafit, Prism, etc. is also desired. |

| Requirements |
Preferred Qualification The successful candidate will have cell biology experience, especially in the study of oncology drug discovery, with an emphasis on assay development and target validation (prior experience with cancer stem cells would be highly desirable but not required). A familiarity with cellular assays, including expertise in maintenance and manipulation of multiple tissue culture cell lines, transfection, RNA interference methods, FACS analysis, and gene reporter assays is essential. The candidate will also have experience with molecular techniques, including mRNA and protein isolation and detection, and will be familiar with the use of automation in cellular and molecular assays. Participation in the planning and execution of experiments, and proper recording and presentation of data, results and conclusions are expected. |
