| Description |
Basic Qualification PhD or MD/PhD degree in Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific discipline. Details GSK recently established the Biopharmaceutical Business Unit (BBU) in order to meet the challenges and demands of the rapidly growing opportunities for biopharmaceuticals as new medicines. The BBU consists of 350 talented and dedicated scientists, operating at three sites in the UK and the US. The BBU is responsible for developing biopharmaceutical medicines from initial concept and design through development and discovery and into clinical development. The unit’s current projects consist of monoclonal antibodies, domain antibodies and recombinant proteins, addressing a wide range of therapeutic areas including cancer, respiratory, infectious disease, inflammation and metabolic diseases.
As part of recruitment program in the Discovery Biology group within the Novel Targets Biopharm Business Unit, we have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced and motivated cell immunologist/oncologist with 3-10 years postgraduate experience to join our successful team working on protein therapeutics. This opportunity will require you to have extensive knowledge and expertise in the areas of oncology and assessment of preclinical therapeutic efficacy models. This is a laboratory-based position and will include establishing in vitro and in vivo assays; along with the specific skill sets required to examine, interpret and understand these systems and the effects of therapeutic intervention. Previous biotechnology or pharmaceutical experience in the area of protein therapeutics is desirable. You will have a track record of scientific accomplishments as demonstrated by a strong publication history in the area of oncology. Working in a well-resourced and intellectually stimulating environment at our state of the art facility in Upper Merion, PA, you will be empowered to influence the course of our projects though the provision and interpretation of high quality data.
Since many of our projects involve close collaboration with other parts of GSK R&D, flexibility, dedication, the ability to work to tight timelines, good teamwork and clear written and verbal communication skills are required. |
