| Description |
Basic Qualification To succeed in this role the candidate will need a Bachelor's degree in statistics or other quantitative or health-related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of programming and analysis experience. Experience working with observational databases (e.g., electronic health records, health insurance claims data) . Experience with SAS (SAS BASE, STAT, GRAPH, SQL and Macros) is required as well as familiarity with structured programming principles and documentation procedures. Knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems. Statistical analysis skills and knowledge of observational research methods. Business and research focus. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Communication and interpersonal skills and a degree of self-motivation, initiative and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team, and to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Details In this position, the candidate will:
• Collaborate with research teams across GSK to conduct and manage observational studies using large electronic healthcare databases housed in the internal HIF repository.
• Provide programming, analytic and consultation support for epidemiology, outcomes research and other observational database analyses to support priority R&D projects/diseases in the Respiratory, Oncology and Infectious Diseases therapy areas.
• Assist in the evaluation, selection and acquisition of new population-based databases useful for observational research.
• Investigate, evaluate and apply innovative methods, technologies and tools to broaden the availability, accelerate access and better leverage the use of observational data to create greater business value for GSK.
• Develop, implement and maintain best practice standards for observational database access, management, programming, quality assurance and reporting.
• Serve as an advocate for greater and appropriate use of observational data in aiding decision-making at GSK.
• Lead and manage technical projects. Liaise with IT staff and external groups on technical operational issues, database tool development projects and other database -related initiatives. |

| Requirements |
Preferred Qualification A Master's degree (e.g., postgraduate training) in epidemiology, biostatistics or other quantitative/ health-related discipline is strongly preferred. Pharmaceutical industry experience and experience in an epidemiology, health outcomes or health services research environment. |
