GSK is seeking an Operations Shift Leader at our consumer healthcare manufacturing facility in Oak Hill, NY.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the purpose of the role is ensure and direct the production and packaging of high quality products to support Global Consumer Healthcare Business and to achieve the business drivers of cost, quality, customer service, compliance and safety.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Train, direct, and develop shift Operation staff in pursuit of site objectives, while maintaining open lines of communication through all levels, providing continuity of leadership, and producing a productive and motivated Operations team. • Working with engineering and maintenance departments to ensure effective maintenance strategy is executed in Manufacturing and Packaging to support best in class up time for equipment. • Establish targets for financial delivery and constantly challenge and evaluate opportunities to improve. • Ensure the execution of effective performance management system on shift that ensures a standardized work day that focuses on important metrics, tiered accountability and the shop floor. • Based on performance management system, ensure that employee performance is regularly reviewed with constant updating of performance, rewarding strong performance and challenging improvement where identified. • Drive OEE performance to 70% + across packaging lines with productivity of greater then 1.5m units per person. • Build employee capability and commitment within operations teams to ensure achievement of site goals and objectives. Ensure optimal quality and compliance with FDA guidelines in all phases of operation through direct involvement with Operations staff and other departments in developing, implementing, and maintenance of SOP's consistent with GMP regulations. • Ensure the knowledge and utilization of GMP’s by department personnel to assure compliance with FDA guidelines. Responsible for EHS/Quality Investigations/CAPA resolution. Issues SOP’s for guidelines as appropriate and trains accordingly. • Ensure good workplace organization along with focus on mass balance and high yield. High accountability for waste management. • Champion change and implement continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and Six Sigma (Operational Excellence) initiatives to generate cost savings.

• Previous experience in delivering measurable improvements in systems and processes. • Ability to communicate (includes oral and written) with all levels of the organization and ability to influence others to achieve results. • Ability to utilize analytical and problem solving skills to develop solutions to business problems. • Continuous improvement background with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/OE Tools and Techniques (OE Green Belt Certification preferred). • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent in experience in Operations/Maintenance.
