Description
Basic Qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent.
• Purchasing experience in an MRP- driven manufacturing environment.
• Excellent oral and written skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a personal computer (ex. Microsoft Word, Excel) and the KBM400 system, SAP
• Demonstrated ability to understand the flow of production through the manufacturing plant
• Ability to perform close mental and visual operations dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures
• Ability to operate the following equipment: photocopier, computer, calculator, telephone and facsimile machine
• Ability to reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions
• Ability to exert up to 20 Pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Ability to demonstrate adaptability, employee must be able to move from one operation to another
• Must work extended hours to include evenings
Details
• Shops out common materials to obtain best pricing
• Monitors inventory and expediting of all raw materials, packaging components and operating supplies.
• Participate in Production and Quality Assurance Meetings.
• Verifies proper raw materials, components, etc. are received as ordered; incorrect orders are returned and proper credits are issued.
• Coordinates the expediting of purchased raw materials and components
• Executes material requisitions from materials management and planning.
• Administers competitive bidding, negotiations and purchase agreements; and completes the entire purchasing cycle by working closely with receiving and accounts payable departments to resolve delivery and invoicing issues.
• Work with end users to resolve critical sourcing issues
• Process requisitions, issues purchase orders and performs related purchasing activities as required and based upon approved suppliers, history, delivery date and comparative pricing
• Locate and secure secondary sources for materials as needed.
• Negotiate with suppliers as needed.
• Maintain a professional and good working relationship with suppliers.
• Provide meeting minutes as required.
• Perform external site visits to understand the processes and act as a liaison between Stiefel and the suppliers.
• Other duties as assigned.
