Basic Qualification 8-10 years broad based experience of consumer research and strategic planning.
Proven track record in identifying research needs, developing and managing insight progammes and utilising insight information in a fast-moving environment.
Mastery of key market research techniques (qual, quant, continuous). Willingness to champion new ideas and techniques to give GSK a competitive edge A proven ability to bring the very best out of suppliers, both in terms of servicing and encouraging them to develop new techniques Strong analytical skills and ability to influence at all levels. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be impactful and assertive. Details The role of Consumer & Market Insight Director is multi-faceted, reflecting the team's global remit. The job holder's primary stakeholders are the marketing and R&D members of the Future Team. At any one time, the job holder will be involved in multiple projects, owned by many different team leaders and at different stages of commercial development. Priority setting, task juggling and expectation management are key skills to master. Other key stakeholders include marketing directors and teams from the core global markets. There are also key interfaces with the Global CMI team, consumer insight colleagues in the local markets, key global market research agency suppliers and the global ad agency.
The job holder must demonstrate strong influencing skills amongst senior managers in order to maximise the potential added value and opportunity for insight.
The job holder must strike the critical balance between a) being an integral, supportive member of the Team and b) retaining the necessary distance and objectivity to challenge where necessary. The job holder's key stakeholders are assertive advocates of the projects they run. On occasion, this advocacy can lead to their pushing ahead with projects without fully listening to the consumer.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding are prequisites for success in the role. The job holder will work on projects that span multiple geographies and cultures. They will work on project teams with colleagues from all parts of the world.
This role is required to manage and integrate extensive amounts of information, data and insights ensuring knowledge is applied and leveraged where relevant across the business. This requires an ability to develop hypotheses, and hunches, and to make these come to life for debate and discussion.
The job holder must demonstrate a successful track record of operating in large multinational operations. |

| Requirements |
Preferred Qualification Breadth of commercial experience and/or insight experience in multinational companies will be a significant advantage.
Also a broad appreciation of commercial business knowledge and a proven ability to move projects forward in a matrixed, multi-cultural environment.
Previous experience of working in consumer healthcare portfolio, specific experience with Oral Care, OTC products.
Experience of working in a lead market, and in an above country/market role. |
