Basic Qualification
Bachelors Degree in information management or applicable scientific discipline.
5-8 years experience in patent search and information management, or 2-4 years of combined patent search and examination and/or prosecution experience.
Details
Analyze and assess newly issued and existing patents to assess the patentability of new medicines and protect GSK's existing patent rights.
Review internal device/mechanical development work to identify new inventions.
Review 3rd party device/mechanical patents for due dilgence and/or freedom-to-operate.
Work closely with patent attorneys in identifying and communicating key patent issues impacting current or potentially patentable GSK assets.
Produce standard or customized reports associated with patent searches.
Maximize the use and development of new patent search tools, including web-based data base systems and tools.
Apply knowlege of the pharmaceutical industry, GSK, and the science of medicine development in ongoing interaction with clients to surface potential patent issues asociated with searches.
Independently manage mulitple, concurrent patent search projects using sound project and process management skills.
Prepare patents, prosecute patents, and counsel clients in the mechanical and medical device areas.
Participate in cross-functional teams driving the continuous improvement in patent searching, drafting and prosecution. |

All of the above, plus-
Life science patent search and prosecution experience.
Experience supporting patent search, drafting and prosecution in the medical device field. |
