Basic Qualification Bachelors degree in engineering, (chemical, electrical, mechanical, or other technical field) required
• 7+ years overall manufacturing maintenance experience required. • 5+ years experience in a pharmaceutical or other cGMP environment • 5+ years experience in a leadership role. • Analytical, negotiation, and influencing skills are required. • Requires extensive knowledge of plant facilities, utilities, manufacturing equipment, automation/controls, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). • Organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic PC operation. • Ability to communicate information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring oral and written communication skills. • Ability developing strong working relationships and provide leadership to a team • Ability to work cross functionally and take direction. • Professionalism, trust, and discretion in managing sensitive and confidential information • Participation in continuous improvement activities. Details Reporting to the Engineering Director for the Aiken manufacturing site, the primary objective of the Maintenance Manager position is to manage the Maintenance, Calibration, and Utilities/Facility departments. The Maintenance Manager is to drive a strategic vision with a tactical plan for their functions to ensure they are utilizing leading edge technology to support and enhance the facility. Ensures all production and facility equipment is maintained to the highest level to minimize unplanned downtime.
Responsibilities: • Maintaining all plant equipment, systems, and buildings to ensure optimal operation. • Manage the evaluation of equipment performance and make recommendations for repair, replacement, or upgrade. • Manages and provides site direction for preventative maintenance and the semi-annual shutdowns. • Monitoring employee performance and ensure adequate training is provided for coaches, leads, and skilled technical personnel is a key responsibility to ensure continuous improvement with the functional area. • Manage staff to optimize personnel utilization and job efficiency; drive a continuous improvement mindset and initiate programs to enhance and strengthen the site operations. • Manage and maintain metrics to measure the performance of all of the Maintenance, Utilities, and Calibration functions. Ensure efficient and effective management and delivery of maintenance work via performance measurement systems and control. • Develop and implement a spare parts strategy, including inventory policies, supply chain and procurement optimization and store room operations. • Create, review, implement, and oversee outsourcing policies and contracts to achieve optimum service and cost. • Drive resolution to non-conformance events related to responsible functional area. • Develop and manage to operating budgets.
• The position is responsible to ensure all safety programs within the functional area are followed, including contractors working within the facility. • Other responsibilities include communication directly with the manufacturing team to coordinate maintenance and repair work. • Ensure all mechanics are trained on the most current versions of their SOPs, • Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment. • Identify compliance requirements relating to maintenance (national and local regulations, GSK standards) and ensure processes and procedures achieve full compliance. • Develop and manage to operating budgets. • Work with Operations/Engineering/Facility groups to effectively plan and implement plant shutdown activities. • Demonstrate a commitment to safety; concerned about safety of other associates and team members. Drive safety actions to completion. • Have real time knowledge of maintenance activities throughout the site. • Prioritize maintenance activities. • Enhance GMP/Compliance performance • Assist team in technical troubleshooting and escalation. • Develop and implement (in place and in use) best-in-class maintenance processes, procedures and ways of working covering: • day-to-day delivery (e.g. work management, planning and scheduling, materials management, compliance, quality, EHS…..) • continuous improvement (performance measurement, failure investigation, root cause analysis and plant betterment) • Other associated duties as assigned |
