• Bachelor degree in chemical or electrical engineering is preferred, coupled with 5 years of instrument / automation engineering experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Prior experience in a GMP regulated industry including experience with relevant European regulatory requirements and 21CFR part 11.
• Prior experience in the design, programming, start-up, and troubleshooting of process control instrumentation including PLC and SCADA systems required.

GSK Biologicals, N.A. with our global quest to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer, is seeking a Automation / Process Controls Engineer for our start up vaccine production facility in Marietta, PA.
The Automation / Process Controls Engineer will be a key member of the project teams for major projects assuring GSK-Bio Standards for automation technology are met while leading the design and installation of instrumentation and control systems to include process equipment, building automation systems and utility PLCs, and develop and optimize operation and maintenance procedures for instrumentation and control systems, by providing training, technical support, troubleshooting and offering resolution to issues. This role is also responsible to keep the projects on-time and on-budget, develop validation documentation and implement validation plans, and direct validation efforts for automation by providing leadership during executions with both site employees and external contractors. The position will be responsible for participating in the site deviation investigation, change control and Corrective Action/Preventative Action processes in regards to site automation systems.

| Requirements |
Preferred Qualification
The following skills are desired:
• Prior manufacturing or development process instrument engineering experience for an aseptic filling operation.
• Working knowledge and prior application development using PLC programming (AB, Siemens), SCADA, HMI configuration (Intellution iFix, Wonderware and RSView) and DCS systems (DeltaV).
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft operating systems (XP and Server 2003), Data bases (SQL2000/SQL2005) and programming language such as Visual Basic is desired.
• Experience with building management systems, alarm management systems and HVAC control elements.
• Experience with control system design and implementation in accordance with cGMP and NIH Guidelines for large scale recombinant biological processing including secondary manufacturing such as sterilization, vial filling lines, lyophilizers and packaging equipment.
