Position Description To provide face to face individual or group product training, diabetes education, and follow up for all patients on insulin pump or continuous glucose monitoring. Ensure optimum patient outcomes by utilizing and training patients on Carelink to ensure appropriate therapy settings and continuation of care.
Position Responsibilites Main Job Duties/Responsibilities is under the direction of the District Clinical Lead or District Manager.
75% Education and Training o Sets up and facilitates in-person group education including diabetes education classes, pump starts, advanced features, and CGM Foundations. o Facilitates webinars, conference calls, or other computer based training offerings. o Provides diabetes education for all patients in specific territories. o Provides ongoing patient educational support. o Proactively makes educationally focused outbound calls to patients at risk or in CGM or pump attrition with the overall goal of recapturing lost patients or directing them to an educational event. o May handle educational/training questions from patients directed from 24 HL and SOS teams. o Submits training documents that are accurate and legible within 48 hours of completing the training session.
25% Team coordination, planning, and administration o Coordinates with territory teams on therapy changes, Carelink files, and other patient related topics so territory teams may follow up with HCPs. o Plans group trainings in alignment with territory teams and district quarterly training goals. o Helps to find location, set up, invite people, facilitate, and follow up with patients after training events. o Proactively shares in the district and territory teams planning sessions.
Basic Qualifications Minimum Required Education and Experience: • An Associate's Degree with a minimum one (1) year of clinical experience.
Required Certification(s): A valid registered license in one or more of the folllowing fields:
o Registered Nurse (RN) o Registered Dietician (RD) o Physicians Assistant (PA) o Nurse Practitioner (NP) o Pharmacist
Required Skills/Competencies: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. • Excellent presentation skills. • Basic computer knowledge. • Good organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks are required. • Ability to work either in a team orientated environment or work independently. • Positive and enthusiastic attitude and ability to effectively work and interact with all levels within the organization. • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to be flexible to changing priorities.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications • Certified Pump Trainer or experience training customers on insulin pumps. • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). • A basic understanding of the diabetes disease state and current therapy options. • Bilingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred for some areas of the country. • Ability to work evenings, weekends, or on call periodically. • Comprehensive knowledge of the diabetes disease state and experience training/educating patients on Medtronic products and technologies. • Experience as a Diabetes Clinical Specialist or Certified Product Trainer for minimum of 1 year. • Experience with live meeting, WebEx, excel, and PowerPoint.
