Title: Associate Scientist I/II
Location: CA, Mountain View - NON SALES
Req: 02173
We are seeking to recruit a qualified individual with a strong background in virology, immunology or vaccine development. This individual will contribute their expertise to the preclinical research of respiratory vaccine candidates. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and to contribute creatively in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will also be highly motivated and will approach the research projects with energy and enthusiasm. This person will perform virological and immunological based assays that utilize techniques such as mammalian tissue culture, plaque/TCID50 assays, ELISAs, western blots, common molecular biology plasmid DNA cloning techniques, blood processing, Elispots and flow cytometry. He/She will also assist in protein characterization and functional biochemical analyses. This person will be involved in multiple projects and must be flexible to changes in priorities. He/She will work in cross-functional teams and give presentations at group and department meetings. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. He/She must also have strong organizational skills and a sharp attention to detail in performing experiments and in maintaining experimental records.

Position Requirements
Experience: BA/BS + 5-10 years in a labratory setting or MS + 2-8 years in a laboratory setting
Special Skills/Abilities:
Must possess a firm foundation in the fundamentals of virology/immunology/cell biology
Experience with virological and common immunological assays
Experience with protein characterization a plus
Proficiency with MS Office, GraphPad Prism, Adobe Photoshop
Strong teamwork skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Job Complexity: Tasks are varied and moderately complex and requires ability to make independent judgments at times.
Supervision: Will work under general supervision to meet project goals. Level of independance will increase as the job progresses.

Educational Requirements
Education: BA/BS or Masters in a Biological Sciences field
