Description Title: Facilities Technician III
Location: MD, Gaithersburg - Corporate Headquarters
Req: 02203
Position Summary:
Candidate will be responsible for mechanical and in house repairs primarily within the Gaithersburg Pilot Facility although tasks may be assigned throughout the facility as required. Performs work within multiple maintenance trades ie. carpentry/painting, electrical, plumbing and mechanical repair. Performs routine system/equipment installation, preventive maintenance, repair and sanitization along with general laboratory repair/renovation. Makes periodic or special inspections of facility systems/equipment to determine repair work necessary and to confirm system/equipment operation is within specified parameters. Will be required to assist in Project Management throughout the facilities and oversee the work of contractors. Independent thinking and decision making is required. Position Requirements Essential Job Functions:
Candidate will be responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of manufacturing process equipment and related systems and components supporting GMP manufacturing along with general facility maintenance. This may include some or all of the following: bioreactors, purification systems, purified water, chillers etc. as well as any other task assigned. Must be able to trouble shoot problems in the event of mechanical failure of equipment and be able to recommend parts needed for the effective repair of such. Will work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Candidate must have a thorough understanding of cGMPs as they apply to product manufacturing. Must be able to understand and write standard operating procedures as required to perform duties related to this position.
Additional Job Functions:
Use basic & precision hand tools
Utilize precision measuring instruments
Must be able to read, write and utilize complicated drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
Read mechanical schematics/piping diagrams
Experience in the maintenance trades, trade knowledge in a specialized field or process
Must be able to work (troubleshoot/perform repairs) in a clean room environment.
Overtime as required
On-call after hours support Educational Requirements Typical Education:
Certificate of Completion at a 2 year technical trade school or,
High School diploma with experience in maintenance trades working in Pharma, Biotech or other highly regulated industry, Journeyman
Typical Experience:
4 - 6 years related
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
May include some or all of the following - Appropriate plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical Licenses (Maryland - EPA Refrigerant Recovery Type I, II, III or Universal Certification or Stationary Engineer Level II or III as required) and/or equivalent work experience to insure working knowledge
