Title: Director, Marketing - FluMist
Location: MD, Gaithersburg - Corporate Headquarters

Responsibilities
• Develop and lead overall domestic brand strategy and execution
• Lead and develop in-line marketing team to support overall brand goals and objectives (share, growth, unit, $$$, and corporate benchmarks) while improving brand profitability over time.
• Lead and support tactical execution of annual business plan
o HCP promotion
o Tele-sales Team
o CDC Contracting Process
o DoD Contracting Process
o Sales and Operations Planning Process to support Supply Chain
o DTP / DTC promotion (over 50% of budget allocation)
o Participate in Life Cycle Planning with Product Development Team
• Responsible for Annual Business Plan
• Responsible for OPEX management
• Direct Reports Development Plans (2 to 3 Direct Reports)
o Alignment of global investigator initiated studies and publications to support US marketing messages and LCM
o Input into HOPE in support of health outcomes and pharmaco-economic plans in conjunction with HOPE team
• Work in conjunction with Global Strategic Marketing team to develop the Life Cycle Management Plans: Includes the following:
o Global Brand strategy
o Launch of QUAD Vaccine and alternative delivery devices
• Work in conjunction with Business Development to evaluate late-stage vaccine deals or collaborations to support expansion of vaccine business
• Member of Flu / Vaccine Publications Subcommittee to generate scientific data for display and communications
• Collaborate with Market Research on the design of the market research plan, specific studies, etc.
• Work with Clinical R&D and Medical Affairs, in development of Phase IIIb / IV strategy
• Collaborate with OUS team to share market development / sales generating ideas to ISMO and launching countries
• Lead in development of annual / seasonal FluMist / Vaccine Operating Plan
• Liaise with and manage vendors, partner agencies, etc
• 2-4 Direct Reports

About FluMist® (LAIV) Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine
FluMist® (Influenza Vaccine Live, Intranasal) is a vaccine indicated for active immunization of individuals two to 49 years of age against influenza disease caused by influenza virus subtypes A and type B contained in the vaccine. In a pivotal study that included more than 4,000 children between the ages of two and five years of age during the 2004-2005 influenza season, there was a 54 percent reduction in cases of flu in children who received FluMist compared with those who received the traditional flu shot (4.5 percent vs. 9.8 percent, respectively). In the study, FluMist demonstrated a reduction in influenza rates compared to the inactivated vaccine against strains that were both matched and mismatched to the vaccine.
FluMist has been studied and developed in 48 completed clinical trials, with more than 48,000 subjects ranging in age from six weeks to more than 90 years of age. In addition to the clinical trial experience, approximately 60,000 doses of FluMist have been administered in two post-marketing studies, and approximately 27 million doses of FluMist have been distributed for use in individuals 2 to 49 years of age following licensure of the product in 2003 through the 2009-2010 influenza season. FluMist was the first available vaccine for the H1N1 virus to the U.S. Government to support the massive public health initiative through the BARDA and CDC. FluMist is different from the flu shot in that it uses live, attenuated – or weakened – viruses within the vaccine to help stimulate an immune response that is designed to closely resemble the body’s natural response to an influenza infection.
FluMist is contraindicated in individuals with history of hypersensitivity to eggs, egg proteins, gentamicin, gelatin or arginine or with life- threatening reactions to previous influenza vaccinations, and in children and adolescents receiving concomitant aspirin or aspirin-containing therapy.

Educational Requirements
Previous Experience and Requirements
• 5 to 7 years of pharmaceutical experience years experience required
• Brand management on a pharmaceutical or biotech product
• International Marketing experience a plus
• Collaboration in Joint Venture or Distribution Agreements with other Pharmaceutical companies
• Success in working on cross-functional teams and leading teams
• Proven experience in both strategy development and tactical execution
• Self-starter / Takes Initiative
• Experienced with and comfortable presenting to senior management
• Pharmaceutical sales / sales management experience a plus
Education
• Bachelor of Arts or Science Required
• Master’s of Business Administration Preferred
