Global Strategic Marketing, Inflammation and Autoimmune Diseases (IA)

Senior Director, Global Strategic Marketing and Portfolio Management

Position Summary:
The Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) team is responsible for the strategic marketing and market development activities for all biologic compounds from the discovery stage into Phase 3. This department is driven by achieving impact at all levels with our work and with our teams. In this role, the Associate Director, Strategic Marketing will be helping to drive the commercial strategy to optimize the value of the overall IA portfolio. This highly visible leadership role is critical to the future success of MedImmune as we maximize the true potential of our overall biological pipeline. As a member of the Global Strategic Marketing leadership team, the incumbent will: shape the biological space of our industry; aid in defining the business and strategic model for a pure biologics player; provide strategic and subject matter expertise both to the therapeutic area and global strategic marketing teams.
The successful candidate must be able to operate within a fast paced organization, with a high expectation on quality of the deliverables. Ability to work cross- functionally, and across cultures is critical.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Support the commercial input and strategy for MedImmune’s IA pipeline portfolio. Responsible for:
• Driving value added commercial activities related to the IA portfolio
• Providing market analytics and fact-based decision making
• Developing key input assumptions into IA forecast models
• Developing overall commercial strategy including disease area strategies
• Providing technology and competitive intelligence assessments
• Building approaches for the optimal commercialization for the portfolio of assets
• Integrating these TA efforts within the overall biologics portfolio
• Key Commercial interface for TA with both MedI and AZ Leadership
• Leader for IA presentations to senior management
• Financial and target management
• Monitor and achieve budget targets esp. at quarterly reviews
• Achieve key deliverables for GSM including
• TA Strategic Plan and forecast
• Commercial plans at various milestone stages for individual assets
• Cross-functional involvement for:
• Strategic Planning Process with Finance
• Interacting with cross-functional partners (research, clinical, regulatory, etc.) to gather information and exert commercial influence into key decisions
• Product Development Teams with Project Management

| Requirements |
Position Requirements Experience:
• Successful track record of career progression and achievement
• Minimum of 7-9 years of related experience required
• Some of the following backgrounds (at least 2) would be critical for this role
• Strategy consulting background in healthcare
• Industry background in Pharmaceutical and/or Biotech with core marketing experience including running in-line brands (US and/or global)
• Relevant content experience related to the IA marketplace (commercial/ pre-commercial)
• Strong scientific background
• Expected competencies:
• High-level strategic thinking with ability to dive deep
• Core marketing capabilities with in-line/ pre-launch drugs
• Experience in forecasting and risk modeling
• Strong analytics/ fact- based decision making
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams
• Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills in presenting complex information and key insights
• This position requires excellent organizational skills as well as proven ability to work in dynamic, flexible, matrix environment; collaboration and influence skills are critical Educational Requirements Requirements/ Qualifications
Education:
BA/ BS degree, in science or business is desirable; MBA preferred
