Secondary Process Industrial Engineer

Requirements
Reporting to the Director of Process Engineering, the Secondary Processing Industrial Engineer / Senior Secondary Processing Industrial Engineer will be responsible for acting as the interface between MedImmune’s internal scientific, development, and manufacturing resources and key outside Engineering and equipment suppliers. While those firms routinely execute the various engineering documents necessary to support a large project, MedImmune’s packaging engineering will act in a bridging function between the outside firm’s technical staff and our internal groups (Development, Research, Manufacturing, EH&S, Quality) that are responsible for MedImmune’s manufacturing technology.
The position will be based at MedImmune’s corporate headquarters in Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. The position will require travel to other MedImmune sites both in the US and abroad.
The Secondary Processing Industrial Engineer / Senior Secondary Processing Industrial Engineer will support capital projects as part of a cross-functional team. In addition, this person will be responsible to supporting ongoing operations with technical support to address operational problems as required.
Responsible for establishing technical requirements on capital projects to include:
1. Identifying initial technical criteria
2. Establishing technical alternatives
3. Leading or supporting development of Basis of Design (BOD)
4. Establishing criteria for selection of A/E service providers
5. Guiding and monitoring the efforts of service providers during generation of all design deliverables
6. Establishing quality standards for A/E performance and monitoring against those standards
Responsible to support Project Managers during construction to include:
1. Establishing quality standards and benchmarks to monitor construction activities or vendor fabrication
2. Monitoring flow of information between vendors, contractors and internal resources to deliver design intent and meet quality standards
3. Participate in commissioning / qualification efforts to ensure timely and appropriate turnover
Responsible to support ongoing development and commercial operations to include:
1. Developing and maintaining an open and positive relationship with appropriate contacts at operational sites
2. Offering technical advise in support of site’s requirements
3. Troubleshooting issues as they are identified
Responsible to support departmental goals and objectives.
1. Assist in developing departmental business processes and performance metrics
2. Lead departmental Operational Excellence program

Educational Requirements
Education and experience requirements are as follows:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 10 years of related experience; or
• Master’s degree or PhD. in related field with at least 5 years of related experience
• MBA, or related business experience is a plus
