Title: Production Technician II/III Location: MD, Gaithersburg - Corporate Headquarters Req: 02084 Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others): The technician is responsible for the operation of equipment according to established Standard Operating Procedures and Master Production Records for the manufacture of therapeutic proteins and vaccines in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP¡¦s).

Requirements

Position Requirements
Special Skills/Abilities: Proficient in the operation of all area specific production equipment such as bioreactors, centrifuges, filtration devices, chromatography equipment, washers and autoclaves. Weighs and checks raw materials, assembles and cleans process equipment, monitors processes. Completes production records and maintains clean room environment to comply with regulatory requirements. Edit/Reviews Master Production Records and Standard Operating Procedures for accuracy and completion of process steps. Possesses sound scientific knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and uses this skill set to routinely monitor manufacturing processes and recognize potential process issues as they arise. Ensures junior manufacturing personnel comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP¡¦s) and Master Production Records (MPR¡¦s) and that training records for junior staff are accurate and current. Authors MPR¡¦s, SOP¡¦s and Solution Preparation Records (SPR¡¦s) as needed to accurately reflect process steps as dictated by development. Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices and standard operating procedures. Provides training and operational guidance to junior staff and also serves to mentor junior staff in clinical manufacturing techniques. Works on routine manufacturing assignments as well as assignments that are very complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Possesses sound scientific knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and uses this skill set to routinely monitor manufacturing processes and recognize potential process issues as they arise. Acts independently to develop manufacturing methods and procedures. Has good interpersonal skills, is attentive and approachable. Discusses problems with colleagues and senior personnel. Maintains a professional and productive relationship with supervisor and co-workers. Job Complexity: Supervision: Works under periodic or minimal supervision from the area supervisor.
Educational Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications: Education: B.S. in science or equivalent experience/degree is strongly preferred. Experience: Requires a high school diploma with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience or Associates degree in a scientific discipline with 2 - 4 years relevant experience.
