Title: Director/Senior Director, Training Location: MD, Gaithersburg - Corporate Headquarters Req: 02047 Position Summary: The Director /Senior Director of Training provides technical and organizational leadership, oversight, and direction for the design, development and implementation of training functions and activities to achieve the Medical Organization’s goal to be a learning organization culture. Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others): • Develops the infrastructure of the Training group to support the above activities. • Prepares strategic business plans for the Training group to support achievement of corporate and Medical Organization objectives. • Manages strategic resourcing of internal staff and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality training and balance resource needs across projects. • Collaborates with department and functional area heads to identify training needs, create plans for their development, ensure timely deliver of training and track compliance with training requirements. • Leads the Training Team in the design and development of training plans, materials and modules, and delivery of training to Medical Organization employees. • Works with management to establish annual training curricula offerings for all Medical Organization employees. • Leads the Training Team in identifying and responding to (and escalating, when appropriate) priority training issues and critical training needs that are identified by Medical Organization departmental management and/or their employees. • Plans and manages the budget for Training. • Manages and develops direct reports, including performance reviews and regular 1:1 meetings. • Ensures that Training SOPs, WPDs, and document templates are current and compliant with global guidelines and practices. • Oversees training and development requirements of Training staff. • Works effectively with colleagues to participate in and contribute to the setting of company wide quality objectives.

Special Skills/Abilities: • Knowledge of quality assurance, compliance, and training objectives. • Knowledge of FDA regulations and guidelines, ICH Guidelines, EU Directives, and overall GCP, • Strong business sense and the ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects from conception to completion, working in a fast-paced environment. • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated problem-solving capability, and be a self-starter and team player. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to adapt, work through conflicts, and persuasively influence outcomes. • Ability to relay vision of departmental organization, processes, and change to management and staff. • Effectively copes with change and is comfortable changing direction and leading teams through periods of ambiguity. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. Educational Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications: Education: BA/BS in a scientific discipline. Degrees held in both education and science, with an advanced degree, are preferred. Experience: • Senior Director: 10+ years experience in a clinical environment, with 6+ years of training experience. • Director: 7+ years experience in a clinical environment, with 4+ years of training experience. • Experience in the design and development of training components and training curricula in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or CRO arena. • Direct supervisory experience for multiple direct reports at a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO company. • Experience reviewing performance and giving performance evaluations, including setting goals and managing performance issues. • Experience hiring, training, leading, coaching, and mentoring manager level employees. • Experience managing a rapidly growing and changing organization. • Previous experience developing and overseeing project/department budgets.
